The itinerary
Stop 1
Depart Muscat
Set off in the morning towards Nizwa, enjoying mountain and village scenery along the way.
Stop 2
Nizwa Souq
The date market, vegetable market, halwa shops, silver and gift shops and spice market, with time to browse.
Stop 3
Nizwa Fort
Visit the fort, its history and architecture, and the views over Nizwa and the palm groves.
Stop 4
Wadi Ghul photo stop
Pause below the canyon in Wadi Ghul for photographs of the valley and surrounding mountain scenery.
Stop 5
Jabal Shams & the Grand Canyon
Ascend to the viewpoint for sweeping views of the rugged cliffs and deep canyon, with around 30 minutes to enjoy the scenery.
Stop 6
Return to Muscat
Descend from Jabal Shams and return to Muscat after a day of heritage and spectacular mountain landscapes.
