Our story

Caravan Saray began with one vehicle, a set of borrowed tents and a habit of driving guests further than they had asked to go. Our founders had spent their working lives on the roads between Muscat, Nizwa and Sur; showing visitors the places they stopped at seemed the natural thing to do.
Today the same people still run everything. One of us drives, one of us cooks, one of us answers your emails at odd hours. We keep groups to eight travellers so the camp stays quiet and so we can change plans when the weather or a good invitation suggests it.
We are not the cheapest operator in Oman, and we've stopped apologising for it. The money goes into good vehicles, proper camp kitchens, guides who are paid year-round, and permits for the places that deserve protecting.
What you get in return is an unhurried week: coffee at sunrise, long afternoons of driving and walking, dinner cooked over a fire, and people who are genuinely glad you came.
