Clothing
Light long sleeves beat shorts in the sun and keep the sand off at night. Bring one warm layer — desert nights in January drop to around 12°C — and a scarf, which does more jobs than you expect.
Footwear
Closed walking shoes for the wadis and rock, plus sandals for camp and water. Nothing technical is needed; our walks are unhurried.
Small things that matter
A headlamp, high-factor sunscreen, a refillable bottle, and any medication you need. Phone signal disappears for stretches, so download your maps and music before we leave Muscat.
What you can leave at home
Tents, mats, sleeping bags, cooking gear, water and the coffee pot are all ours. Luggage stays in the vehicles between camps, so a soft bag is easier than a hard case.
