October to April, in short
This is the season we run most journeys. Daytime temperatures sit between 24 and 30°C, the desert nights are cool enough for a fire, and the wadis still hold water from the last rains.
The quiet shoulder
Late October and early April are our favourite weeks. The camps are quieter, flights from Europe are cheaper, and the light in the dunes is long and soft for most of the afternoon.
Summer, and the khareef
June to August is genuinely hot inland — we don't camp in the sand then. The exception is Salalah in the south, where the khareef monsoon turns the hills green and the whole region becomes a different place.
What to book when
December and the New Year fill first, often three or four months ahead. For those dates, write to us early; for the shoulder weeks, six weeks is usually enough.
